Making Procedure:-

The procedure in which the steel is rolled at high temperatures is known as hot rolling. The temperature is kept more than the steel’s recrystallization temperature. This allows one to mold them into larger shapes without much difficulty. However, when this gets cooled, the sheets do not shrink consistently.

At first, billets or steel slabs are cast from hot liquid metal.

These slabs have to be then fed into the reheating furnace. These slabs are conditioned in the furnace. 

It is heated at a temperature of about 1700 degrees Fahrenheit. 

The following process is known as roughing. The slabs whose surface share has been eliminated in the earlier procedure are treated here. Due to the high temperature of the steel, these can be flattened into large sheets with rollers. These are rolled into rolled materials by a roller with the required width, thickness, and shape. 

In the next step, finishing rolling, the main task is to modify the shape and create an even surface of the rolled material. Thus, billets get cut into the necessary sections and dimensions before cooling.  

After passing through the finishing mill, these strips or rolled materials are produced at the round-out table. They are coiled here. As the strips get rolled, they are sprayed with water. This ensures that the strips have cooled down to the necessary temperature for coiling.

Applications:-

The hot rolled steel, which is made from the hot formed steel, has various uses and applications in modern industries. This kind of steel is the best choice when tolerance is not a priority.
